Bush and Beach helping to save the Kiwi
We are pleased to announce a new sponsorship initiative to help fund the conservation work the Otorohanga Kiwi House is doing. We received delivery of our latest new vehicle and decided to put the number plate “ROROA” on it. This is the Te Reo Māori name for the Great Spotted Kiwi which is one of the species of Kiwi that we visit at Otorohanga on our Waitomo tours.
We are delighted to sponsor the Otorohanga Kiwi House by donating 50 cents for every passenger we carry on our ROROA bus, whether it is on a tour to Waitomo and Otorohanga or elsewhere. Jo and the team at the Kiwi House do amazing work in conserving our national taonga and we are thrilled to be involved.
The Great Spotted Kiwi is dear to our hearts and for some, the highlight of our tour to Waitomo. You can find out more about the Roroa here and the work that Otorohanga Kiwi House is doing by clicking here
The Kiwi house at Otorohanga has been conserving and breeding Kiwis since 1971 and have so far sucessfully hatched over 150 Kiwi chicks.
